Stupid Signs (six)

These aren't really stupid signs, just poorly maintained ones. How many people in the Boro does it take to change a light bulb? Apparently no one knows.

What's a "Dairy L"? Hope it's not like a "derriere".

I tried to help them with this one. I went in the store and said, "There's no "F" in KFC. They kicked me out. You believe that?

Who took Piggly Wiggly's pig? There's a Chinese restaurant in the same shopping center, I'll check there.

At least I thought there was a Chinese restaurant here. This place apparently just sells plates.

N.Y.C. B? Wasn't Leona Helmsley one of those?

...and whenever I'm hungry, I just stop in at the Taco.

Is the boy strange? Yes, he's an effing Odlad.

That took some time man. And it's really cool. Heck, they made a show around this very concept, didn't last long, but I use the title often. About what show am I thinking?

Didn't take long to take the pictures; they were all within a mile of the Manor. It took a little longer to post them. Are you, perhaps, thinking of the t.v. series "Hot L Baltimore", which I think was based on a Neil Simon play?

too funny.

It reminds me of the ACE Hardware in my neighborhood. The light in the "C" was out for a week. I thought "Damn. They have lightbulbs. They have ladders. What the hell are they waiting for?".

I guess your "do it yourself" store apparently did want to do it themselves.

You have a lot of time on your hands, my friend.

i've driven through Walterboro at least 6 times in the past 2 years. I think we even stopped for De ny's or Mc onalds'. If I'm ever driving through again, I really need to be more observant of these signs.

Star, this stuff is everywhere. I swear, it took me ten minutes to take all those pictures. Most folks just don't see it. Shoot, Ms. Tri-athlete, I bet you spend more time lacing your shoes than I spend taking pictures! Anyway, it's only a waste of time if nobody (including me) thinks it's funny.

Mags, I really like Walterboro, but the Lowcountry is rife with this sort of stuff. One of my favorites was a sign outside of the public high school track in Ridgeland that included the warning, "No Skakes". That's S-K-A-K-E-S. It was posted by the Jasper County School Board. In answer to why I wouldn't send my kids to Jasper County Public Schools: They don't allow skakes on the track.

Good Stuff, Ange. You still didn't say if the show you were looking for was Hot L Baltimore.

Oh, and John, that was supposed to be "did NOT want to do it themselves".

Best sign I ever saw in SC, farm country, a spray painted job near a truck farm offering the best of homegrown veggies ...

the sign read: "Orka and Lopes"

mmmm.... mighty fine.

Sounds like a Shamu and JLo wedding invitation.

Hot l Baltimore. That's the one, I only remember that there were a bunch of white folks and a funny black dude in the show. That's it. But I remember the title.

Actually I use speed laces...there's no time to tie my shoes when I'm in T2! And I think you should have put your "dumb blonde" post in this category ;)

Nah, although dumb comes in all sorts of hair colors, that SC teen pageant contestant really brings home the meaning of dumb blonde. She deserves her own post.

Those are really funny. There was 1like that around here, It's not there anymore, however.. there was an IHOP near my house, and for like 2 weeks the "I" light was burned out so for 2 weeks it said "HOP" Alot of my friends and I just looked at it, then we all stood there Hopping, then the manager came out and told us "We were ruining business." Then we said read your sign, then he did then he told us to scram or he'd call the cops.. But it was loads of fun..
